competition rules
(Tertiary Level)
- PacificLight’s 2023 Crea8 Sustainability Tertiary-Level Competition (“the Competition”) is open to all tertiary students studying in Singapore’s tertiary institutions including junior colleges, polytechnics, universities, and/or private institutions of equivalent.
- All entries must be registered online at crea8sustainability.sg/2023competition/registration by 11:59 pm on Friday, 28 April 2023.
- Participants can enter individually or in teams of up to three members.
- Submission will only be considered successful once all required details and the participant/group’s video has been uploaded.
- Submission requirements:
- A short video, between 30 seconds to 1 minute long in portrait mode (inclusive opening and closing credits, equivalent to a TikTok/ Instagram Reel) addressing ONE of the following themes:
- Sustainable Living
- Energy Consciousness
- Climate Action
- Participant/s may refer to the table below for a detailed description of each theme.
- #SustainabilityinAction must be showcased at any or all points of the video.
- The video submission must be accompanied by a short caption via the registration portal. The judges shall assess each submission based on both the video and the caption.
- Participants must ensure that the intended audio voiceovers can be heard clearly. Subtitles/closed captions should be included in situations where the audio is unclear.
- The video submission must be in English.
- A short video, between 30 seconds to 1 minute long in portrait mode (inclusive opening and closing credits, equivalent to a TikTok/ Instagram Reel) addressing ONE of the following themes:
- Submission must be an original creation. Original creation means it has been created directly and personally by the participant/s. Direct copying or imitating another person’s work is not considered an original submission.
- If PacificLight has reason to believe that a submission is not original, it may request for evidence from the participant to enable PacificLight to access the submission’s originality. Any submission that is not considered original will be rejected and disqualified from the Competition.
- It is the legal responsibility of the participant/Group, not PacificLight to ensure compliance with all ownership and copyright requirements to reproduce the video submitted for this Competition. By submitting an entry to the Competition, participants hereby represent and warrant that the submission does not and shall not knowingly infringe any copyright or any other relevant rights of any party or third party.
- The submission must not contain royalty-free music, footage, images and/or materials. If copyrighted music, footage, images and/or materials are used in the submission, the participants/ Groups must ensure that a copyright license or permission of use from the original owner is obtained before including them in the video.
- Video must be submitted via the registration portal in the following format:
- File Type: MP4
- File size: up to 100MB
- Editing platforms such as in-built TikTok or Instagram Reel editor, CapCut or Vilo, or any other video editing app may be used.
- Each participant/group may only submit one entry to the Competition. Multiple entries from the same participant/group will be disqualified.
- Individual participant already in a group is not allowed to participate in a different group.
- It is the submitters’ responsibility to ensure that the participant details are entered correctly.
- Individuals or participant/s in a group must submit either a completed parent consent form (for participants below 18 years old) or a Consent Form (for participants 18 years old and above) in the following format. Submissions without a completed parent/guardian consent form or Consent Form shall be disqualified.

- File size: up to 10MB
- The video submission must not
- contain content that is inappropriate, misleading, injurious and/or contrary to the public interest of Singapore.
- include content that is intended to, or may, provoke or incite, hatred or discord.
- infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights or interest of any third party or may result in any liability
- contain any political agendas, sex or nudity, racial discrimination, defamation of religion, vulgarities or violence that would deem it unsuitable for family-friendly viewing, and young audiences below the age of 12.
- The video must be able to be posted on Instagram or TikTok without infringing on both social media’s copyright guidelines. Videos not adhering to either Instagram’s or TikTok’s requirements will not be disqualified.
- By submitting an entry to the Competition, the participant hereby grants PacificLight an unlimited worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, display, prepare derivative works of any and all submitted works in any and all media, whether now known or hereinafter created, throughout the world in connection with PacificLight’s purposes including but not limited to its advocacy of sustainable energy use.
- All uses of the submission will be non-commercial and participants will be credited alongside their video.
- The participant retains all copyright to his or her original submission.
- By submitting an entry, a participant provides consent to PacificLight to make reference to their name, and school for the purpose of identifying them as the creator of the submission.
- Any false representation, erroneous information, or violation of these rules and regulations or general objectives of the Competition (such as helping the child develop the submission), will result in the disqualification of the participant.
- Entries will be judged based on the participants’ originality in thought process, creativity in problem-solving, and information relevancy based on the selected challenge problem.
- Decisions on the winning submission will be made by a judging panel comprising of PacificLight staff and third parties that PacificLight might choose to engage. The judges’ decision is final.
- Prizes for the competition are as follows
- Winner- $300 Capitaland Mall vouchers + trophy+ Certificate of Award
- 1st Runner Up – $250 Capitaland Mall vouchers + trophy + Certificate of Award
- 2nd Runner Up – $150 Capitaland Mall vouchers + trophy + Certificate of Award
- Audience Choice –$100 Capitaland Mall vouchers + Certificate of Award x 1 winner
- At their discretion, the judges may award up to 3 Honourable Mentions. No prizes will be awarded for any Honourable Mentions.
- Winners will be notified via email to the contact provided in the entry submission by June 2023. Further details on the date, location, and time of the prize presentation ceremony will be provided at a later date.

- The Competition is not open to the children/wards of PacificLight Power Pte Ltd or PacificLight Energy Pte Ltd employees or supporting partners.
- By submitting an entry to the Competition, participants agree to be bounded by the competition rules, including consent to the collection of his/her personal data to conduct the competition and agree that PacificLight may, for this purpose, collect, use and/or disclose the personal data in accordance with the competition rules. All rules and regulations, and instructions issued by PacificLight from time to time will be deemed incorporated in these competition rules. PacficLight reserves the right to amend the competition rules, at any time, without prior notice.
- These Rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore.
