Notable Initiatives

Under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)’s Kyoto Protocol, a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) refers to an entity that contributes to emissions reduction targets by sufficiently reducing its level of emissions enough to qualify for certificates of emission reduction, or carbon credits (‘green’ credits).

PacificLight is the only power plant in Singapore to have been recognised as a Clean Development Mechanisms (CDM) project under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change due to our plant’s high levels of efficiency.

PacificLight lives by our commitment to sustainability, having invested an additional S$5 million into our S$1.2 billion Jurong Island power plant to further improve plant efficiency. These investments have increased our plant output by 8MW, which is enough to power over 10,000 households every day, in addition to reducing our carbon emissions equivalent to taking 15,000 cars off the roads.
